Avoiding stuff is natural and easy to understand. You avoid anything that does not light your fire. And you definitely avoid anything that could put that fire out.
As logical and instinctive as this is, avoiding the wrong thing at the wrong time could make your life far more complicated than it needs to be. It could even prove fatal.
As hard as it is to face the dull stuff, you need to. This is where the motivational specialist will tell you character is built!
There are three distinct situations that you will tend to avoid:
- Boredom - an activity simply means very little to you;
- Fear - you don't want a type of situation to unfold;
- Hardship - having to endure something that is uncomfortable or painful.
