MILLENNIALS, MOTIVATION AND MEANING
Generation Me or the Millennials as they are often referred to, are single handedly changing the way we see our work (aided by Generation Z).
The questions they ask are challenging in a simplistic way : "Why should I do work that I do not enjoy?" and "Surely I have the right to be me in the work I do".
They honestly cannot understand why someone should be paid a salary to work long hours, doing work they don't enjoy, to make someone else rich. They want work to be an expression of themselves. In fact they insist on it and have very, very low tolerance for doing stuff that bores them.
And they do have a point.
The real question is, is it possible given the way the world works?
Let me put this another way, it is essential that a way is found.
Are you aware that much of your frustration, anxiety, stress, mental fatigue, inefficiencies and busyness that you experience on a daily basis in your work is due to you neglecting WHO you are, as you do it? In other words by rescinding your right to be you, you are making your life more complicated and stressful than it needs to be?
And to think that the rate of change, pure volume of distractions, diverse number of people you will encounter, excessive and consistent pressure, permanent state of work and pure lifespan of your professional life will only increase.
So here is the good news. If you take a lesson out of the Millennial playbook and you take who you are seriously, paying attention to your instinctive patterns of behaviour, not only will you become more productive but you will be happier and more fulfilled too. It is the ultimate win. And this course will show you exactly how to do that.
